“We wish to share the view of the parenting world for the parent of children who have enjoyed the experience of Greek life in college and more specifically as it relates to Sigma Alpha Mu.
We are the proud parents of 3 sons, 2 of whom have completed college. All three have enjoyed Greek life and our 2 younger sons with Sigma Alpha Mu. Greek life provided our sons with the opportunity to grow in so many ways. Sigma Alpha Mu membership has responsibility to the fraternity, the university, and the community. Members of the Sigma Alpha Mu family get involved in the community, learn the importance of supporting charities, become part of a family of brothers from all over the country and are encouraged to take leadership roles.
Our son Matthew, a founding brother in the chapter at West Virginia University, went on to become president of the WVU Inter-fraternal Council and active in all phases of the university government.
Our youngest son is now enjoying the benefits of Greek life at Indiana University. Life at IU living in the fraternity house has provided Erik with a platform to blossom as both a student and member of the university community.
To summarize our view from the home front, the benefits start in college and continue for ever. The brotherhood continues at the annual convention where old friendships get renewed and new ones are born. The social and business networks started through Sigma Alpha Mu continue forever.”
