Dr. Profeta will take you through what it’s like to tell a father or a mother that their child has been killed. It is an extremely tense and emotional portrayal from someone who has done this countless times and hopes to impart how it is the absolute worst part about being an Emergency Physician and one of the biggest causes of physician burnout in Emergency Medicine. He will discuss how close many students come to dying only to simply wake up with a hangover, completely oblivious to how near death they were while passed out. He will describe in vivid detail what it will be like to find a roommate dead, how the paramedics and police will respond, what the student can expect to hear from the dead student’s parents how it will change their life forever. He will be an open book and allow attendees the opportunity to ask any and all questions. Dr. Profeta is keenly aware that drug and alcohol abuse is a part of college. His goal is to guide students into making the right decisions and to simply keep them from becoming another death in his ER.
