Current Status
In September, the Tau Chapter celebrated its 100th year since chartering at the University of Alabama. Friday evening, we hosted a formal reception dinner at The District Room in Tuscaloosa. That night, alumni from as far back as 1955 came together for the first time in over 50 years. We had many speakers, including Allen Turer (Alabama, ‘56), Gil Yanuck (Alabama, ‘58), Nick D’Addabbo (Alabama, ‘12) and Executive Director Andy Huston (Minnesota, ‘01).
On Saturday, we began the day with a tailgate for the Alabama home football game. We had a special New Member pinning, the first one to take place in a Sammy house at Alabama in over 50 years. Immediately following, we had a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. There, Gil Yanuck and Kyle Struck cut the ribbon to officially open the new house to the Alabama campus. Afterward, the New Mexico State v. Alabama football game took place. To no surprise, Alabama won. After the game, the celebration continued at the house and around Tuscaloosa.
We closed out the celebration on Sunday morning with a brunch hosted by the Alabama Hillel. We pulled the winner of the 50/50 raffle and were able to raise over $200 for the Judy Fund. We were honored to celebrate our chapter centennial and thank everyone who attended. We look forward to hosting alumni at our new home!
