Developing Leaders Initiative (DLI)

OVERVIEW

The Developing Leaders Initiative (DLI) is the premier leadership program for Sigma Alpha Mu undergraduates, funded by the Sigma Alpha Mu Foundation. Exceptional undergraduate members from across North America are selected to participate in this special program. Sigma Alpha Mu is excited to share that the program is being changed to an annual program that will consist of a rewarding extended weekend experience.

APPLICATIONS

This program is application-based. In order to be considered, applicants must apply by November 1, 2023. Only 12 students will be selected. All applicants will be notified of their status by December 1, 2023.

PROGRAM LOGISTICS

  • January 12-15, 2024
    • Attendees need to arrive to the hotel by 5 p.m. local time
  • Phoenix, AZ

Program objectives include:

  • Enhance leadership skills, cultural competency, and professional skills
  • Provide an immersion experience in organizational governance and Sigma Alpha Mu’s International leadership
  • Present undergraduate feedback on topics or areas that Sigma Alpha Mu that need to be reformed, revised, or expanded.
  • Prepare for post-collegiate involvement in the Jewish Community and Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity
  • Embrace and inspire the values of Sigma Alpha Mu
  • Network with other undergraduates and alumni

All undergraduate members of Sigma Alpha Mu chapters and provisional chapters are eligible to apply. Applicants must be in Good Standing within their chapter/provisional chapter and institution. DLI is funded by the SAM Foundation, and there is no cost for the member.

 

Project Overview:

Sigma Alpha Mu’s International Leadership will provide topics or areas of SAM that need to be reformed, revised, or expanded.  These topics or areas will be centered around Sigma Alpha Mu’s approach to tackling global fraternity issues.  DLI will decide on a few of those proposed topics and will work during the program to complete the objectives, with a final virtual presentation to the International Leadership.
