About the Chapter
The Gamma Chi Chapter at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA chartered on November 21, 1987. Over 398 men have been initiated into the Gamma Chi Chapter since its inception.
Current Status
The Gamma Chi Chapter hosted our spring clothing drive for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. We partnered with GirlUp, a female empowerment club at Brandeis University, and provided students with a timely clothing donation service right before the summer break. We noticed a real problem at Brandeis University. Students that wanted to do some spring cleaning before packing up their dorm for the summer did not have a reliable way to dispose of their unused, but perfectly viable, clothing, shoes, gloves, and other articles. Sammy and GirlUp campaigned on-campus to inform the student body of our intended clothing collection. We sent Facebook invites, advertised in on-campus emails, solicited friends, and flyered the campus
On the day of the event, Sammy Brothers and GirlUp members set up collection centers across campus. Together, we collected over 20 large industrial trash bags of clothing articles. From our advertisement campaign to donation collection, we were greatly surprised by the amount of time our endeavor required; however, we had a great time, spread our name throughout campus, and made some lasting connections with the members of GirlUp.
