Types of Events

As you saw in the last video, a Chapter event could consist of many different things. Below are some examples of various types of events and also events that are considered high risk. The events listed in the high-risk column are prohibited by the risk management or insurance policy. There is potential that some of those activities could be considered, however, it would require additional insurance and specific risk management plans in place (example would be the Car Smash).   • Approved Events for Chapters to Host:
    • Dry event (no alcohol)
    • Member Event Only
    • Fundraiser
    • BYOB
    • Member and Date Event
    • Event with other organization
    • Event with other Fraternity/Sorority
    • Philanthropy
    • Third-Party Vendor at a location
    • Candidate Education events as outlined in True MDH Initiative Candidate Education Program
    • Sporting event
    • Third-Party at chapter facility
    • Parent event
    • Recruitment 
    • Community Service
  • Activities that are considered high-risk and prohibited are: 
    • Water/pools/boat/lakes
    • Skydiving
    • Boxing tournament
    • Building of temporary structures
    • Mechanical bulls
    • Car Smash
    • Bounce House/inflatables
    • Slip & Slides/water features
    • Obstacle course
    • Eating contests
    • Contact sports (football, rugby)
    • Bonfires/Fire
    • Hazing and/or specifically unauthorized candidate educations events
